Generative AI

The GIEVA Generative AI skilling Challenge is one of five projects proudly sponsored by the data.org and Microsoft to skill and train the workforce on the use of Generative AI to supercharge their work. The GIEVA Gen AI Consortium comprising GIEVA Organization, Zeustek ICT Solutions, CoLab and the Department of Computer Science of the  University of Jos, Nigeria embarked on the project of training women entrepreneurs in Northern Nigeria on the use of Generative AI tools to create digital assets to boost their sales via online selling channels and platforms like WhatsApp and Facebook.

The project assessed and performed a comprehensive study to understand the impact of AI tools and processes on boosting sales and profits for businesses led by women in low-to medium income communities in Nigeria. It created an AI solution tailored for businesses operated by women in low to-medium income areas, designed for use in both online and offline marketplaces as well as on social media platforms. The project also focused on the establishment of an AI training and mentorship program to build AI learning capabilities among the targeted group of women and tailor LLM resources and models to align with the unique cultural, linguistic, ethical, and economic contexts of low-to-medium-income communities.

The project, while leveraging on certain aspects of the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) style, focused principally on the use of the Agile Project Management (APM) system. This involves the collaborative effort across committed team (consortium) members. The project planning and work management were adaptive, and evolutionary in all of its development stages, which were always open to changes as long as they lead to process improvement.

This method was fast and flexible, and it involved professionals in the field of research and Education (The Department of Computer Science, UNIJOS), Data Science and Information Technology (ZEUSTEK solutions), and the Training and Development team (COLAB). The agile methodology allowed the consortium, under the leadership of the GIEVA team-lead, a very dynamic way to work and collaborate.
