A brief history?
The GIEVA-dream began in 2001. However, the name 'Global Integrated Education Volunteers Association', was registered as an Incorporated Trustees in August 2006.
Daniel and Ruth Obaka founded and incorporated Global Integrated Education Volunteers Association as a not-for-profit organization in Nigeria. It is with a vision to building a system and framework that provides global platforms for young African leaders and entrepreneurs to achieve their potentials through educational services and or/programs, and train them to be free from all forms of system-dependent mentality,
Our VISION is Building an intergenerational system of Ideas that provide global platforms for young leaders in an atmosphere of tolerance, and peace evolving into self-dependent citizens that utilize technology for the service of humanity through entrepreneurial ideas and processes
Our MISSION is to prepare and empower a new generation of youth anchored on inclusion, diversity, equity, access, and Sustainability (IDEAS) for building a give back mechanisms through shared-partnership, education, advocacy, cultural exchange and Volunteerism.
What we do
Youth Development Program
GIEVA as a Youth Development and Empowerment Center makes provision for young, dynamic, and innovative individuals who want to serve as interns in the organization. Currently our internship time-frame is between 3-6 months. We operate an open door policy and treat all internship applications on merit and based on first-come-first-served.
Educational Services
With partnership with various International organzations (notably being ETS-2007-2024), GIEVA has aided students who seek to study in the United States with a platform for easy access to registration materials and preparatory books that will allow them to achieve their goals. GIEVA also registers students for various international admission tests.
Outreach
GIEVA engages in outreach programs with various schools. The CHOICES program is one of such. At inception it was introduced to twenty-eight Government-owned secondary schools within the municipal Area councils of Nigeria’s Federal Capital, Abuja 2009, Lagos and Plateau states of Nigeria.
CHOICES
CHOICES (Creative Hands in Organizational Innovations for Constructive Education And Sustainability) is a school program designed to re-shape the lifestyle of Nigerian students in secondary school through STEM, TALENT activities, INVENTION/INNOVATION, Agro-Allied engagements, Research and Development, Volunteerism, etc.
Mentoring Program
Leadership enhancement and Academic program LEAP is another program set to motivate and inspire young people who have leadership potentials and have academic capacity to excel. GIEVA identifies these young people through her reach out programs in schools and other social events. Our goal is to mentor such young people to become what they dream to become.
Volunteerism
We believe in volunteering and Advocacy programs and services, we have over-time seen that volunteering is not a popular culture in Nigeria, GIEVA is set to re-position this trend by providing different opportunities and platforms for young people to Volunteer their time, resources, and also professional expertise for the course of humanity and development of Nigeria.
